Masai Mara Game Reserve
5 Parks, Rift Valley Lakes & The Big Five – Nairobi to Nairobi

Daily Private Safari Tour in Pop-Top Jeep

5 Parks, Rift Valley Lakes & The Big Five – Nairobi to Nairobi. Departs from / returns to Nairobi airport / Nairobi area hotels

On this safari feast, we’re going upcountry to three Rift Valley lakes and take in exotic flamingoes, kingfishers, pelicans, ostriches and much more. Big game roam in these parks as well, so we’ll be looking for rhino and even lion. But the true lion country will be our fourth destination, the Masai Mara, home to one of the greatest densities of big cats anywhere. On this medium-length African safari you’ll be kept happily engaged with game drives, and sailing, walking, and even bicycle safaris.

Enjoy this amazing safari in a customized pop-up roof Natural World 4×4 Safari Jeep that includes: Portable fridge/Cooler Box, 4 Binoculars, long-range high-frequency radio, Sand bags, 4G/LTE broadband WIFI connectivity, Power Outlets AC 230V, First Aid Kit, Safari Guide Books – Baby Seats and Side Steps available on request… and above all, a professional multi-lingual safari guide who will ensure you have an unforgettable safari experience.

We will start our journey with the rich palette of colours found at Lake Nakuru National Park – waterfalls, acacia forest, and the lake with its bright pink flamingoes. You’re likely to see endangered black and white rhinos, gazelle and rare Rothschild’s giraffe amongst the park’s grasslands. Our next Rift Valley lake lies just north of the equator. Lake Bogoria National Reserve is an exciting spot with hot springs, geysers, and flocks of fuchsia flamingoes lining the shores. But you’ll also find gazelle, buffalo, klipspringer, and even leopard at this unusual park.

Lake Naivasha and its surrounding areas present us with opportunities for some closer game viewing during sailing, walking, and cycling safaris. We’ll sail over the lake with views of hippos and the birdlife – pelicans, cormorants, and more. Then we’ll take a guided walking safari to nearby Crescent Island Game Sanctuary, viewing a charming array of grazing gazelle, zebra, and waterbuck. For even more close-up game viewing we offer an optional bicycle safari to Hell’s Gate National Park with its wandering zebra, giraffe, and antelope amongst others.

Now it’s time for the big park and the big game – our trip to Masai Mara National Reserve will span four days. That’s lots of time for exciting game drives over the park’s immense plains and scenic rolling hills in search of predators, grazers and especially the big cats. The park is famous for sightings of lion and cheetah, so we’ll be exploring the land, the wildlife and perhaps enjoy some cultural encounters with the local tribespeople.

NAIROBI – LAKE NAKURU (160km – Approx. 3 hours)

Meal plan: Lunch, Dinner

7:30 hrs.  Your driver/guide will pick you up from your Nairobi area hotel, Nairobi airport or Nairobi area residence. We’ll head out in our private 4 x 4 Jeep for Lake Nakuru.

We’ll make stops along the way to view the dramatic rises of the Great Rift Valley escarpment.

We should arrive at Lake Nakuru in time for lunch and plenty of game and bird watching drives around the lake and its many scenic wonders. We’ll explore the acacia forests and wooded hills looking for zebra, hippo, baboon, and monkey.

The park is also known for its large population of rhinos, which we are sure to spot. Keep an eye out as well for impala, waterbuck, and giraffe.

The lake has some flamingoes, but we’ll also be entertained by the flocks of pelican, cormorants, kingfishers, heron, and eagle.

This is a rich reserve, full of colour, variety and the wonderful mix of wildlife only nature can provide to us.

We’ll overnight here at Lake Nakuru at your choice of safari lodge or tented camp.

Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

The birdlife here will inspire us to rise early so we may enjoy the dawn and the park as it gradually awakens to the new day.

We’ll head in our 4 x 4 along the floor of the scenic Great Rift Valley for more dramatic vistas as we journey to Lake Borgoria National Park.

The park is an enchanting mix of bubbling geysers, steaming hot springs, and an alkaline lake hosting thousands and sometimes millions of pink flamingoes.

Wildlife like gazelle, impala, and dik-dik roam here and we may spot them in the vicinity of the busy lake.

We will proceed to Lake Naivasha for the evening.

We’ll spend the evening at Lake Naivasha at your choice of safari lodge or tented camp.

LAKE NAIVASHA – MASAI MARA (240km – Approx. 4.5 hrs)

Meal plan: Breakfast , Lunch, Dinner

We’ll be up early for a boating safari across the lake and bid good morning to the hippos as we gently glide by. This is a fun moment to take in the brightening day and spot birds and perhaps some antelope grazing on the shore.

Nearby Crescent Island Game Sanctuary provides us with an opportunity to take a guided walking safari to this peaceful but active little reserve.

Should you wish, hop on a bicycle for an optional trip over to Hell’s Gate National Park where we can hike or pedal by antelope, zebra, and other peaceful gazers.

But now it’s time to head out again across the floor of the Great Rift Valley on our way to Masai Mara Game Reserve.

We should arrive in time for lunch and take in the reserve’s green rolling hills and vast plains holding immeasurable wildlife.

We’ll relax, freshen up and then embark on our first game drive in the world-famous park.

We’ll enjoy the first of three nights in the park at your safari lodge or tented camp.

Meal plan: Lunch, Dinner.

We’ve designed this safari to give you lots of viewing time at Masai Mara so let’s get an early start. Over the next few days, you’ll enjoy unlimited game drives – explore as much or as little as you choose.

But we think you’ll be excited by the possibilities of the Mara. The park presents the largest concentration of wildlife in this region of Africa. The ecosystem is rich, beautiful, and varied offering all the Big Five with a special density of the big cats.

Sightings of lion and cheetah are not uncommon which adds to the excitement of this exciting park.

The Mara is also known as the home of the Great Migration – the largest display of migrating animals in the world. Streaming in by the tens of thousands during the season (July – October) you can witness limitless herds of gazelle, wildebeest, and zebra all moving to the timeless rhythms of nature as they search for food on these plains.

We will spend our second night spent here at your Mara accommodation.

Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.

This will be our third of four days exploring the Masai Mara – what a treat!

Along with traversing the vast open spaces here, we’ll also travel down to the Mara River, site of the migration crossing during the season.

We’ll have lunch while viewing hippos, crocodiles and perhaps predators like lion and hyena searching these timeless hills for their prey.

And if all this time at the Mara wasn’t enough, there are a few optional activities we’ve prepared to make your stay here even more memorable. Take a visit to the local Maasai in their nearby village. See their community, their homes, and learn about their ancient lifestyle herding cattle and farming.

For an absolutely spectacular finish to your safari, we suggest the optional pre-dawn hot air balloon safari over the park. Rise with the sun to witness the reserve come alive as the land and its wildlife emerge into a new day. Unforgettable! Just tell your driver/guide – he’ll make all the arrangements.

Our final safari night will be spent here at your Mara accommodation.

MASAI MARA – NAIROBI (265 km – Approx. 5-6 hrs)

It’s our last safari day so let’s hit the savannah and see which lion, leopard, buffalo, elephant, or rhino we can spot.

We’ll enjoy a final safari breakfast at our lodge or tented camp and then one last game viewing drive as we exit the park on our way back to Nairobi.

We will stop for lunch along the way and should arrive at about 16:30 hrs. (4:30 pm).

We will bring you to your hotel, residence or the airport.

It’s been six days of exotic birds and wildlife, geysers, hot springs, and wonderful landscapes, not to mention some dazzling sunrises and sunsets. We hope you’ve stored up plenty of photos and memories to go with them.

On behalf of the team at Natural World Kenya Safaris, a big thank you for choosing us as your safari professionals. We hope to see you again when you next get the desire to visit our beautiful natural world.
